Hedgehog rescue

Hello from Wild Hogs.

Well what a busy year we’ve had! We’ve now been able to release most of the hoglets which came to us over the summer and it’s great to know they’re boosting the population in their local areas – without us they would have had no chance. And now here we are in December!

Nature may be slowing down for the winter but we in the hospital are as busy as ever, and it’s obvious that many of you who support us are still keeping an eye on the wildlife in your gardens. The mild autumn has encouraged late breeding and we have had 27 admissions to the hospital this week. Most of these are young hogs, too small to survive hibernation.

We tried out a wonderful new idea at Halloween with our ‘Create on the Wild Side’ activity day for children in Frampton Village Hall. It was at the end of a rather wet half term week, and everyone who came had great fun.

These pictures  are a few from our Facebook page, where you can get an idea of the wide range of hedgehog creations which the kids came up with. There are also lots of photos of hedgehogs in the hospital and you don’t need to sign in to Facebook to have a look. There is also a lovely set of photos on our website – definitely worth a look!

There are a few Christmas events coming up where we will have a merchandise stall, so you’ll be able to buy hedgehog-themed presents as well as food and crafts from other vendors. Come and find us at any of the events below:
