OHMG – Needs YOU!

Eastington Community Centre
and Owen Harris Memorial Ground

Registered Charity Number 1013643

Would YOU help to support our fantastic Community Centre and public field?

The Eastington Community Centre was built and is run by ordinary members of the community for the community of Eastington and we’ve all had some amazing and fun times there. It has hosted Weddings, Special celebrations, Children’s parties, fetes for the whole Village and so much more (all with the beautiful public field space outside to run around in).

Eastington Playgroup uses the Centre as do some great regular clubs: Defined Dance, Yoga, Zumba, Qi Gong and Shintaido. Outside we currently have Archery, Football and Cricket. So lot’s going on!

There is also a bar area with great potential for weekend parties!
But, sadly, time has moved on, people have retired and membership of team OHMG has dwindled to the point that this valued amenity may suffer.

We need some new members in order to keep it all going.

Could you get involved? Just a few hours a week would make all the difference.

Currently we are looking for enthusiastic new Trustees and Management Committee Members – people who will volunteer to be actively involved in directing and running these great community facilities.

In addition there are some specific, paid roles that are urgent:
● Centre Manager
● Secretary
● Bookings Clerk
.  These will be paid roles in a ‘self-employed’ capacity.

We would welcome anyone who would like to get involved in any capacity because I’m sure that no one wants to see this great local asset go unsupported. Please don’t just leave it all to ‘someone else’!

Please contact any one of the Committee for further details. email: cousins.mark@gmail.com

And from John Morris:-

As a Trustee, I would like to say how very much we will all miss Gill and the contribution she has made, over many years, to the success of our community facilities and all its operations. Gill now feels it is time for her to step back and we are seeking a replacement of one or more people to cover the multiple roles described above. The paid positions recognise the skills and independence required. Can you help?

Also there are at present just four trustees; four more would be useful to strengthen the delivery and scrutiny of these community services – could you help in this capacity?
In the meantime the OHMG team – Trustees and Management – will continue to work closely together and with Eastington Parish Council, who have been great supporters, to maintain the facilities and services for the community.

Please get in touch if you would like to be a member of the OHMG team!
