On Wednesday 30th October, which is in the Half Term holiday, we will be holding a Messy Autumn event at the church. Our new minister Rev. Phil Summers will be with us helping out and this would be a good opportunity to meet him if you have not done so already.
The Bible Study groups have started a series looking at David, arguably the most famous of the Old testament kings of Israel. David had a particularly close relationship with God and wrote many of the Psalms – he is mentioned over a thousand times in the Bible. He was not perfect and had flaws in his personality including committing adultery and murder – both of which he was pulled up for and for which there were consequences. However, his relationship with God was restored and his story shows us that whatever we might think about ourselves and our shortfalls, God is seeking our restoration.
There is no Bible Study House Group on the first Tuesday of the month; we join our fellow Christians from the Church of England in attending the Filling Station meetings at Standish Village Hall at 7:30pm.
The Youth Club continues to meet on Friday evenings between 7:00 – 9:00pm at EMC. It is good to be able to report that we have had a recent influx of new attendees now that the new school year has started.
The two Café Church services each month have embarked on a new series looking at some of the stories in Genesis, the first book of the Bible although there will be breaks in this theme as we go into the Advent and Lent periods leading up to Christmas and Easter.
If you are new to the area or are perhaps considering trying out church either for the first time or after perhaps not attending regularly for many years, please do come and meet us. You can be assured of a warm welcome.
