Easter @ EMC
We will be having a Good Friday reflection service at 10:30am on March 30th and our Easter Day celebration will take place on 1st April at 11am led by the Reverend David King.
We will also be holding a Messy Easter session at 10 am on Wednesday 4th during the school holidays.
Easter is absolutely fundamental to the Good News about Jesus and understanding what Christianity is all about. It is the mechanism God chose by which we can inherit eternal life – an opportunity not to be missed but one which is too often lost through disinterest or the mistaken belief that this is an offer that somehow does not need a positive and deliberate response on our part. For a contract to exist, one party has to make an offer and the other needs to accept it. At Easter, Jesus paid the ultimate price in order to offer us salvation.
If you are not sure where you stand, now is the time to sort it out and we are here to help. If you do know where you stand and have accepted Jesus, you will want to be in church this Easter (it does not need to be EMC) because you value what Jesus has done for you.
Café Church
From April, we will be increasing our Café Church sessions to two a month on the second and third Sundays of the month with more conventional ones on the other Sundays (where separate activities are available for children and/or young people if requested). They all start at 11am.
The themes for the Café Church on April 8th will be Listening Carefully and the one on April 15th will be Asking Humbly. These are “All Age” sessions where we all stay in together with drinks at the beginning and at the end with a selection of cakes. Up until now, we have not been taking up an offering at Café Church but with the increase in frequency it will be necessary so that those who want to are able to contribute financially to the work of the church.
Bible Study
As a church, we have two Tuesday Bible Study groups with one meeting for a light lunch at the church at 1pm and a House Group that meets at The Pike Lock House at 7:30pm. These often take a break in school holidays so please check on the website or give us a call.
Youth Club
Youth Club runs on Friday evenings including through the Easter holidays except for Good Friday. Usually at this time of year we take a group to stay at Spring Harvest for a few days based at Butlins in Minehead. That has not been possible this year but we are hoping organise a day trip there on Thursday 5th April.
As is our usual practice, children going up to secondary school this summer (i.e Year 6 now) can start to come to the Youth Club from Easter onwards. Parents thinking of letting their children come are welcome to drop in to see what we do.
